Caposele and Arcisate municipal councils embroiled in procedural disputes

In the southern town of Caposele, the Orizzonte Comune group protested a series of irregular council sessions. An extraordinary council was called for June 30, but the group leader, Avv. Giuseppe Caruso, was not notified according to the municipality’s statutes. The council was later postponed, reconvened for July 3 and then revoked again, prompting fears that the administrative chaos could raise local TARI taxes and delay essential services.

In the northern municipality of Arcisate, the minority opposition criticised the council’s habit of scheduling meetings at 18:30, which barred adviser Claudia Filippi and other members from attending. The opposition also objected to recent budget allocations, including €50,000 for an electric utility vehicle despite the lack of charging infrastructure, and €22,000 to increase the mayor’s allowance. They highlighted stalled public‑works projects such as the athletics track, slope stabilization and road works, arguing that the majority’s decisions are harming residents.

Both groups accuse the respective majorities of ignoring procedural rules, misusing public funds and risking negative impacts for citizens.
