Capoterra authorities penalize driver for illegal waste dumping

In Capoterra, authorities have identified a driver responsible for dumping waste and debris in the middle of a road, creating an illegal landfill and a traffic hazard. Following reports from citizens, the Local Police used the municipal video surveillance system with license plate recognition to track the vehicle and identify the driver.

Mayor Beniamino Garau announced significant penalties for the offender, including a 4,400 euro fine, criminal charges, seizure of the vehicle, and revocation of the driver's license. The administration stated these measures serve as a clear message against illegal waste disposal.

Separately, in Vasto, officials have reinstalled a camera trap on a private road between via del Porto and contrada Frutteto to combat recurring illegal dumping. Ecology Councilor Gabriele Barisano noted that while the road is privately owned by the Fondazione Casa Accoglienza Genova Rulli, the municipality is working with the owner to implement long-term solutions.
