Cappadocia Archery Festival begins with 250 athletes

The fifth annual Cappadocia Archery Festival has commenced near Uçhisar Castle, bringing together 250 athletes to compete in traditional Turkish archery. The event features a course with 21 different stations where participants shoot at 2D and 3D targets under varying rules and terrain conditions.

Organizer Fethi Yöndemli emphasized that the festival serves as both a sporting event and a cultural preservation effort, aiming to pass historical knowledge and traditional attire to future generations. Competitors are divided into four categories: children, youth, adult women, and adult men. In addition to the archery competition, the festival includes a contest for the best traditional clothing.

Separately, in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, the Siverek Science and Art Association held its eighth annual 'Şire and Kerge' event. The cultural gathering focused on preserving local culinary traditions, featuring the preparation of traditional sweets like pestil and walnut sucuk using large 1-ton cauldrons.
