Cappadocia promotes tourism heritage at Japan expo

Turkey is intensifying its tourism promotion efforts in the Far East market, specifically targeting Japan. At the Tourism Expo Japan 2026, a delegation including Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and representatives from the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and the Cappadocia Area Presidency showcased the region's heritage.

Key activities included strategic meetings with the President of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA). The delegation invited Japanese travel agencies and digital content creators to visit Cappadocia to experience its fairy chimneys, underground cities, and hot air balloon tours. Plans are underway for B2B meetings to foster direct collaborations between Turkish and Japanese tourism professionals.

In a separate development, Turkey's commitment to sustainable and accessible tourism was recognized at the TTG Travel Industry Awards 2026. The TGA received the ‘Destination for Change’ award for implementing inclusive and environmentally conscious tourism strategies, such as increasing accessible public beaches and promoting sustainability certifications for accommodation facilities.
