Capri, Amalfi and Sorrento Mayors Launch Sustainable Tourism Charter

The mayors of Capri, Amalfi and Sorrento met to coordinate a joint response to overtourism and to seek new regulatory tools for safety, crowd management and the livability of historic centres. Capri Mayor Paolo Falco highlighted the need for stronger powers to manage daily arrivals and announced a forthcoming technical study on passenger flows after eight months of work. Amalfi Mayor Daniele Milano referred to the "Carta di Amalfi", launched in April 2025 by seven founding municipalities and now endorsed by more than twenty tourist destinations, which sets out concrete objectives and a collaborative method with regional and national authorities. Sorrento Mayor Corrado Fattorusso stressed the natural extension of cooperation across the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the island of Capri.

The network of mayors has already secured a legislative exemption that allows the recruitment of additional municipal police officers, enabling night‑time patrols in August and September to improve security and resident quality of life. They plan to continue dialogue with the Campania Region and the Ministry of the Interior to obtain the necessary powers and regulations for sustainable tourism management.
