Capricorn Group donates hygiene products to combat period poverty
The Capricorn Group has completed its ‘Dignity for Every Girl’ campaign, an initiative designed to combat period poverty by providing essential hygiene products to vulnerable youth. Through an internal collection drive involving employees and corporate partner Wutow Trading, the group gathered 818 packets of sanitary pads—totaling 6,544 individual pads—and 296 bars of soap.
An outreach event held at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare After School Centre in Khomasdal provided these supplies to 70 girls. The recipients included children from Family of Hope, Helena’s Haven, Anita’s Soup Kitchen in Okahandja Park, and the Ministry’s After School Centre. The initiative was conducted in partnership with the Imago Dei Welfare and Poverty Relief Association.
Marlize Horn, Capricorn Group’s Group Executive for Brand and Corporate Affairs, stated that access to sanitary products should not hinder a girl’s education, confidence, or opportunity to succeed. The program aimed to reduce barriers to school and daily life by addressing the lack of menstrual products and sanitation information.
