Capricorn Metals completes Karlawinda expansion project
Capricorn Metals has completed its Karlawinda Expansion Project (KEP) in Western Australia on schedule. The expansion includes new parallel crushing, milling, and carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuits, which have now commenced continuous ore processing.
The project has achieved its targeted steady-state throughput of 6.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). Following a 12-month construction period and two weeks of commissioning, the plant is currently processing low-grade ore and is expected to transition to run-of-mine (ROM) grade ore within the coming week.
The expanded Karlawinda Gold Project is projected to produce approximately 150,000 ounces of gold per year. This production level is supported by existing reserves that provide a mine life of more than 10 years.
