Capron motorhome manufacturer: 23 injured in refrigerant leak

A chemical leak occurred at the Capron motorhome manufacturing facility in Neustadt, Saxony, resulting in 23 injuries. The incident took place on a Wednesday afternoon when refrigerant escaped from a refrigerator during work in a production hall.

Emergency services declared a mass casualty incident as numerous employees reported respiratory irritation caused by the substance. Following medical assessment on-site, 19 individuals were transported to hospitals for precautionary treatment, while four others declined clinical care.

Firefighters monitored air quality with measuring devices and ventilated the hall. Once air quality was confirmed to be safe, the production area was released for use. Police are currently investigating the cause of the leak as a potential workplace accident, with inquiries focusing on negligence.
