Captain Simon Cox appointed head of Britannia Royal Naval College

Captain Simon Cox OBE ADC RN has been appointed as the new Captain of Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, United Kingdom. A native of Bodmin, Cox is a seasoned warfare officer who has served on a wide range of Royal Navy platforms, from mine‑hunters and patrol vessels to a Middle‑East task group and the aircraft carrier Prince of Wales.

Cox highlighted the Navy’s focus on developing leaders at every level, noting that experience on smaller ships prepares officers for future command of larger vessels such as aircraft carriers. He described his career as “a jack of all trades,” emphasizing adaptability and the strategic deterrence role of carrier groups. The college, whose motto is “Lead with Courage,” will benefit from his extensive operational background and commitment to nurturing future naval leaders.
