Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters launches on consoles
Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia and developer Tamsoft have launched Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release via Steam is scheduled for August 28, 2026.
As a direct sequel to Rise of New Champions, the game follows the World Youth Championship arc of the original manga by Yoichi Takahashi. It features an expanded roster of over 110 playable characters and 22 national teams. The title introduces new gameplay mechanics, including a Chain Level system, enhanced goalkeeper vs. shooter battles, and more refined passing and dribbling controls.
The experience includes over 150 cinematic cutscenes and a soundtrack featuring more than 80 tracks by Tadayoshi Makino. Players can also engage in a customizable story mode, creating their own characters to participate in the tournament alongside the series' iconic protagonist, Tsubasa Ozora.
