Captain Zainol Afiq killed in Sarawak helicopter crash

A BO-105 helicopter conducting Flight Doctor Service (FDS) operations crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Sarawak, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The victims include the pilot, Captain Zainol Afiq, and four personnel from the Malaysian Ministry of Health who were on official duty.

Following the tragedy, acquaintances and family members have shared tributes to Captain Zainol Afiq, describing him as a kind and professional pilot. His brother-in-law revealed that a year prior to this fatal accident, the captain had successfully managed a separate emergency landing during severe weather conditions, ensuring the safety of his crew and a patient at the time.
