Capybaras arrive at new zoo habitats in Australia and the UK

Capybaras are arriving at new zoo locations in Australia and the United Kingdom.

In Canberra, the National Zoo and Aquarium has introduced three one-year-old brothers—Tejo, Javi, and Javiero—as part of a new South American precinct. The animals have moved into a purpose-built habitat featuring a pool, and zoo officials noted that the highly social brothers are already displaying distinct individual personalities.

In Sussex, Drusillas Park has welcomed a young capybara named Rupert from a wildlife park in Belgium. Rupert has been introduced to two females, Squash and Pumpkin, following a gradual introduction process managed by keepers. The zoo has seen success with capybara breeding in recent years.
