CAQM mandates expanded PTZ camera use at NCR industries

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has ordered the expansion of Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera installations at industrial sites within the National Capital Region. This measure is intended to enhance real-time monitoring of fuel consumption and ensure compliance with pollution control regulations, particularly to mitigate the impact of industrial emissions during the winter months.

The mandate requires industries to install additional PTZ cameras by October 31, 2026. Specific installation requirements include capturing flue gas emissions from stacks in textile and food processing units with boilers, as well as monitoring fume extraction systems and furnace feeding areas in metal units. This expansion aims to address the persistent use of unapproved fuels by providing more comprehensive coverage.

Additionally, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), State Pollution Control Boards, and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee are directed to develop the necessary infrastructure and portals to facilitate the real-time streaming of video feeds for remote monitoring.
