Car collisions trigger long traffic jams on France's A9 and A8 highways

On July 11, 2026, three light vehicles collided on the A9 near Fabrègues, south of Montpellier. The crash involved ten occupants, five of whom sustained minor injuries. Emergency services cleared the scene, but the incident produced about 15 km of congestion heading toward Béziers.

The day before, on July 10, 2026, an accident occurred on the A8 ramp at Nice East (exit 55). The crash led to damage that forced the ramp’s closure and created an eleven‑kilometre backup toward the Italian border, with travel times of up to two hours. Additional nearby ramps were also closed as a precaution.
