Car depreciation rates vary significantly in Hungary

A study by automotive data provider carVertical reveals significant variations in vehicle depreciation rates within the Hungarian market. According to the research, certain car models can lose more than half of their original value within just five years.

The Nissan Micra experienced the highest rate of depreciation among vehicles checked by carVertical users in Hungary, losing an average of 72 percent of its value over five years. Other models with high depreciation rates include the SEAT Ibiza at 69.7 percent, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta at 67.4 percent, the Honda Jazz at 66.7 percent, and the Honda Accord at 64.5 percent.

Expert Matas Buzelis notes that while high-end features and comfort extras may make a vehicle attractive at purchase, rapid depreciation represents a hidden cost for owners. The study also indicates that luxury vehicles and electric cars tend to lose value more quickly due to higher initial purchase prices and significant maintenance or repair costs.
