Car maintenance experts warn against parking wheels turned and crossing speed bumps on one side

Mechanic Juan José Ebenezer advises drivers not to leave a vehicle parked with the steering wheel turned for extended periods. He explains that turning the wheels changes the inclination and tension of components, especially on cars such as Mercedes and BMW where the wheels tilt to aid steering. This can deform tires and stress the suspension, so he recommends parking on level ground with wheels straight.

Automotive specialists also caution against crossing speed bumps by keeping only one side of the vehicle on the raised surface. Doing so disrupts the symmetric operation of the suspension, twists the chassis, and places extra lateral load on shock absorbers, springs, and silentblocks. Repeated use can cause premature wear, noises, and component failure, leading to costly repairs.
