CAR suspends activities in Mosquera due to illegal waste disposal
The Corporación Autónoma Regional de Cundinamarca (CAR) has suspended all activities at a property in the San José district of Mosquera following the discovery of illegal waste disposal. Technical inspections conducted by the Sabana Occidente Regional Directorate revealed that construction and demolition residues (RCD) were being dumped on land specifically authorized for soil restoration and agricultural purposes.
Following community complaints regarding heavy machinery and dump trucks entering the site, officials found over one thousand square meters of incompatible materials, including concrete remains, foundation residues, asphalt, bricks, and blocks. These materials pose a risk to soil conditions.
As a preventive measure, the CAR has ordered an immediate halt to all operations on the premises. The responsible parties are required to remove the waste, store it properly, and deliver it to an authorized manager before any project continuity can be evaluated.
