Cara Delevingne discusses debut album and past struggles

Model and actress Cara Delevingne has opened up about her transition into music following the September release of her debut album, ‘Not Normal’. The London-born artist expressed a desire to create a unique sound rooted in “a pure place of emotion,” noting that the creative process involved navigating intense personal experiences.

Delevingne revealed that past struggles with substance abuse during her adolescence contributed to feelings of “self-hatred,” which led her to delay her music career. She explained that she felt unable to handle the scrutiny and judgment that comes with releasing music while she was not sober.

Reflecting on her artistic influences, she cited singer-songwriter Fiona Apple as a significant inspiration. Delevingne also described the collaborative process of writing songs, such as ‘Need It’, which involved exchanging handwritten notes with collaborators.
