Carabineros arrest 18 people during Pelequén festival
During the traditional Santa Rosa de Lima religious festival in Pelequén, Malloa, between August 26 and 30, Carabineros conducted a large-scale security and traffic operation. The event drew approximately 250,000 attendees.
The police deployment resulted in 18 arrests. Specific offenses included one individual assaulting a police officer, seven people arrested for various crimes such as threats and forgery, and three individuals with active arrest warrants. In terms of road safety, six people were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and one person was arrested for driving without a license.
Authorities conducted 878 inspections, including 254 vehicle controls, which led to 155 traffic violations. Additionally, more than 50 infractions were issued regarding street vending.
