Carabineros intensifies patrols for Colla communities in Atacama

Carabineros has intensified preventive patrols in the mountainous sectors of the Atacama Region to support Colla indigenous communities. The deployment, carried out by the Border Subprefecture through the Indigenous Community Attention Patrol (P.A.C.I.), focused on the Llanos de Varas sector along route C-17.

These patrols target remote areas used by herders from the Copiapó and Chañaral provinces for transhumance activities, particularly during the winter season. The initiative aims to maintain a permanent presence in rural, hard-to-reach areas, strengthening security and fostering trust with local indigenous populations engaged in livestock activities.
