Carabineros officer charged in Quellón for humiliating student

A Carabineros officer in Quellón, Chiloé, has been formally charged with illegitimate coercion following an incident at Liceo Rayen Mapu. According to the Quellón Prosecutor's Office, the officer responded to a report of a stolen cell phone on August 17 and allegedly ordered a student to lower his pants and perform squats in front of his classmates, creating a humiliating situation.

The Public Ministry has instructed the Investigative Police (PDI) to clarify the circumstances and establish criminal responsibility. A court has imposed precautionary measures on the officer, including national travel restrictions and a prohibition on approaching the victim. An investigation period of 90 days has been set, during which the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH) may request additional investigative actions.
