Italy police arrest suspects in drug trafficking and jewelry heist attempts

Italian law enforcement has conducted several successful operations across different regions, resulting in multiple arrests for drug trafficking and attempted robbery.

In Avezzano, a joint operation by the Polizia di Stato and Carabinieri led to the arrest of two non-EU citizens for drug dealing in San Pelino. Authorities seized 21 grams of cocaine and approximately 8,000 euros in cash during the raid.

In the Arezzo province, eight Romanian nationals were arrested following a failed attempt to raid the vault of the jewelry company Fratelli Chini srl in Laterina Pergine Valdarno. The group utilized stolen vehicles and blocked roads with a felled tree to obstruct law enforcement. The operation involved the Carabinieri, State Police, and aerial support from the Pisa Elinucleo.

Local reports note that the jewelry district in the area has faced several similar organized attempts over recent years, including incidents in 2020, 2023, and 2025.
