Carabinieri arrest two men for impersonation fraud in Sicily

Carabinieri officers from the Alì Terme and Scaletta Zanclea stations arrested two men, aged 28 and 31, for aggravated fraud in Sicily. The suspects were caught in flagrante near the home of an 82-year-old woman.

The fraud was initiated via a phone call from an individual impersonating a Carabinieri officer. The caller instructed the elderly woman to collect her cash and gold jewelry to verify their origin following a purported robbery. The suspects were intercepted just as they were about to receive approximately 3,000 euros and various gold ornaments from the victim.
