Carabinieri conduct road checkpoints in Camporotondo Etneo and San Pietro Clarenza, issue fines over €2,600
The Carabinieri carried out extraordinary road checks in the Sicilian towns of Camporotondo Etneo and San Pietro Clarenza as part of the "Modello Trinacria" programme, aimed at strengthening police presence, preventing crime and improving road safety. The operation involved the Carabinieri station of Camporotondo Etneo, the Operational Intervention Company of the XII Regiment "Sicilia" and a crew from the Radiomobile unit in Gravina di Catania.
During the checks 34 vehicles were inspected, 49 people identified and seven subjects under house arrest were verified for compliance with judicial orders. A 24‑year‑old resident of Catania was charged with repeated driving without a licence and reported for personal possession of a gram of marijuana. Other infringements included driving the wrong way and operating an uninsured vehicle, which was seized administratively. The total amount of administrative fines reached €2,671. The checks will continue in the coming weeks to curb illegal behaviour and boost safety for citizens and motorists.
