Carabinieri Forestale denounce multiple illegal construction and landscape violations in Val Seriana, Italy

Carabinieri Forestale units operating in the province of Bergamo have launched a series of investigations into illegal construction and landscape violations across Val Seriana. From January 2026, 26 administrative offences and seven crimes were identified, leading to 13 individuals being denounced to the Bergamo Prosecutor's Office.

Key actions include a €5,000 fine for an enterprise that pruned a protected monumental tree in Valle San Martino without the required Ministry approval, the prosecution of a 55‑year‑old man for unauthorized agricultural structures (metal sheds, containers, terrain alterations), and the denouncement of a 48‑year‑old woman for illegal fence, wooden building and platform works in Valle Imagna. In Bassa Val Seriana, two residents were charged for unauthorised works inside a former quarry, while in Alta Val Seriana three citizens (owner, designer, contractor) faced charges for reconstructing a tourist‑type building in a forested area without any required permits.

All cases are being pursued under Italy’s forestry and cultural‑heritage legislation, including Law 10/2013 on monumental trees and the Testo Unico in materia di foreste e filiere forestali.
