Carabinieri intervene in suicide attempt and shooting in Italy
Carabinieri officers intervened in Villalvernia, near Tortona, on 7 July when a 56‑year‑old man threatened to cut his wrists inside the parking area of the Las Vegas slot hall. The forces talked with him, disarmed him, and escorted him to the hospital in Novi for medical and psychiatric care.
In Rome, the Carabinieri are investigating a shooting that occurred between 16 and 17 July in Via Valle Aurelia. A 53‑year‑old man was hit in the foot by a bullet, was taken to the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli, and remains in stable condition. The perpetrator has not been identified.
Separately, the Italian Customs Agency and the Guardia di Finanza in Rivalta Scrivia seized more than 40 000 electrical and electronic products imported from China that lacked proper CE marking and documentation, valued at around €200 000. The confiscated items include watches, headphones, batteries, lamps and high‑tech LED panels destined for the European market.
