Carabinieri introduce e-bikes for patrolling in Agrigento

The Carabinieri station in Agrigento has officially added two new electric pedal-assist bicycles to its vehicle fleet to enhance local territory control. This initiative aims to modernize urban patrolling by combining institutional presence with environmental respect through zero-emission, silent mobility.

The e-bikes allow officers to navigate narrow historic center alleys inaccessible to cars and provide a more agile presence in high-traffic areas. Patrols will focus on three key zones: Via Atenea and the city center districts, the Valle dei Templi Archaeological Park, and the San Leone seafront, which sees high crowds during summer and weekends.

Designed to promote “proximity security,” the new vehicles are intended to facilitate more direct and immediate contact between law enforcement, citizens, merchants, and tourists. Officers using the e-bikes will wear specialized operational uniforms and will work alongside existing foot and vehicle patrols.
