Italian police intensify summer security checks across multiple towns

Over the recent weekend, inter‑force police operations were carried out in several Italian municipalities as part of a seasonal "Estate Sicura" programme. In the Fermo area, more than 50 people and 30 vehicles were identified, with patrols covering the coastal strip, train stations and key streets. In Vibo Valentia and Tropea, 387 individuals (including 60 with criminal records) and 204 vehicles were checked, resulting in multiple alcohol‑breath tests, drug‑related violations and a reported breach of a residence‑stay order.

In Lecce, the local police issued seven administrative fines for violations of a new night‑time drinking regulation, while the Carabinieri in Ronciglione and Civitanova Marche seized weapons and drugs and recorded several arrests for resistance to officers. The Coast Guard in Crotone and the Guard of Finanza on the Ionian coast imposed 26 nautical‑safety fines, seized an illegal fishing net and confiscated a licence.

Rome’s Ostia unit reported nine arrests for drug‑trafficking offences and identified 271 people, issuing fines totalling €14,232. Additional checks in the province of Teramo, San Gimignano, San Giovanni a Teduccio and other locations resulted in the seizure of illegal beach establishments, the suspension of an auto‑wash bar, and the closure of several tourist‑related businesses for labour‑law breaches. Across the operations, hundreds of individuals were identified, dozens of vehicles inspected, and fines exceeding €100,000 were imposed.
