Carabinieri launch metal detector security checks in Vigevano and Voghera

Carabinieri in the Vigevano and Voghera regions of Italy have launched extraordinary security operations using metal detectors to ensure safety during the reopening of schools. These measures target high-traffic areas, including railway stations and bus stops, to prevent the carrying of knives or other dangerous objects.

In Vigevano, during checks at the Viale Mazzini station, authorities detained a 48-year-old man found in possession of a small knife and a quantity of hashish. The individual, who was already known to law enforcement, faces charges for the illegal possession of a weapon and has been reported to the Prefecture for personal drug use.

In Voghera, similar preventive checks were conducted at strategic transit points for students. While these inspections did not uncover any prohibited items or critical issues, the Carabinieri announced that these patrols will continue throughout the entire school year to maintain a constant presence and protect students, families, and school staff.
