Carabinieri leadership undergoes renewal in Calabria

The Carabinieri leadership in Calabria is undergoing a period of significant renewal. Brigadier General Lorenzo Sabatino has assumed command of the Carabinieri Legion of Calabria, marking what the UNARMA Calabria union describes as a new institutional phase. Fabio Riccio, Regional General Secretary of UNARMA Calabria, expressed a cautiously positive initial assessment of the new command’s early initiatives.

In Reggio Calabria, Colonel Marco Sole has been appointed as the new provincial commander. This appointment is part of a broader restructuring involving six new officers assigned to key territorial units. These changes include the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Pierangelo Iannicca to lead the Operational Department and Lieutenant Colonel Francesco Di Pinto to command the Locri Group.

The organizational shift aims to strengthen law enforcement effectiveness, specifically focusing on combating organized crime, such as the 'ndrangheta, and protecting vulnerable populations through enhanced territorial control and coordination with the judiciary.
