Carabinieri Marshal rescues man from highway overpass after three-hour negotiation

A 33-year-old man of Ukrainian origin was successfully rescued from a highway overpass between Torre Annunziata and Trecase following a three-hour negotiation. The incident began after the man set fire to his apartment in a state of despair following a marital separation.

Carabinieri Marshal Giovanni Russo, Commander of the Torre Annunziata station, led the delicate negotiation. After more than three hours of dialogue, Russo was able to gain the man's trust and dissuade him from jumping. During the operation, the Polizia Stradale blocked traffic on the via Vesuvio highway in both directions to ensure the safety of motorists and emergency responders.
