Carabinieri officer prevents robbery while off duty

A Carabinieri brigadier, Ciro Figliolino, prevented a robbery while off duty in Caleppio di Settala. The incident occurred late Sunday afternoon in a commercial establishment when Figliolino, who was with his family, noticed an individual attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise.

Upon identifying himself, the officer was attacked with kicks and punches by the suspect. With the assistance of a bystander, Figliolino managed to immobilize the individual until patrols from Paullo-Tribiano and Peschiera Borromeo arrived to take the suspect into custody.

Figliolino was transported to the Policlinico di San Donato Milanese for treatment of a cervical trauma and a shoulder contusion, receiving a 10-day medical prognosis. The municipal administration of Mediglia has expressed its gratitude and pride in the officer's sense of duty.
