Carabinieri pension gap recognized by European Committee
The European Committee of Social Rights has recognized a significant disparity regarding the lack of supplementary pension schemes for Italy’s military and police forces. The Committee noted that the failure to establish these protections has resulted in a regression of social safeguards that cannot be justified by regulatory delays.
Paolo Di Pietro, General Secretary of the CSC Syndicate, has called for immediate action to ensure that the new system does not create a generational divide. He emphasized that the reform must include mechanisms to compensate personnel for the period between 1995 and the actual implementation of the new system. Without such measures, veteran Carabinieri members nearing retirement risk being penalized for decades of regulatory inaction.
