Carabinieri report document forgery and illegal weapon possession in Italy

Italian Carabinieri have reported two separate criminal incidents involving suspicious individuals. In Ferentino, officers intercepted a vehicle on Via Casilina containing four people with prior judicial records. During an identification check, a passenger presented an electronic identity card (CIE) that had been tampered with. The microchip, which stores biometric data such as digital photographs and fingerprints, had been intentionally removed to prevent electronic verification and conceal potential alterations to the document.

The woman involved was reported to judicial authorities for material forgery. The removal of chips is a growing method used in document falsification to facilitate identity theft or fraud.

In a separate incident in Reggio Emilia, police responded to reports of a suspicious individual loitering near parked cars on Via Cecati. Upon searching a 38-year-old local resident, officers discovered a 14.5-centimeter bolt cutter hidden in his trousers. The man, who has a criminal record, was charged with the illegal possession of weapons and offensive objects. Authorities also proposed a mandatory departure order for the individual.
