Carabinieri report owner of auto agency for fraud and embezzlement
The Carabinieri of the Pescorocchiano station have reported the owner of an Abruzzo-based automotive agency to the Rieti Public Prosecutor's Office. The woman is accused of fraud and embezzlement.
The investigation began after a citizen from Rieti reported that she had paid approximately 1,300 euros to the agency to handle the transfer of ownership for two vehicles. However, she later discovered that the administrative procedures had not been completed. Investigations revealed that no registrations were finalized with the Public Automobile Register (PRA) in Rieti despite the payment.
Authorities allege the funds were improperly retained. In addition to fraud, the woman faces embezzlement charges because agency owners are considered public service officials when collecting state taxes, such as the Provincial Transcription Tax. The suspect has been deferred to the judicial authorities in a state of liberty.
