Carabinieri rescue three children from Passirio River in Merano

Carabinieri Emanuel Petta and Vice-Brigadier Markus Stocker successfully rescued three German siblings from the Passirio River in Merano. The children, aged between 6 and 10, had become stranded on rocks in the river center during a family vacation in South Tyrol.

The alarm was raised by a member of the White Cross youth group after noticing the children were unable to reach the shore due to the strong current. Following the report, Carabinieri and Firefighters arrived at the scene. Petta described the rescue operation, noting that the team had to navigate approximately 200 meters through uneven terrain and against the current to reach the children.

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi expressed his gratitude to the personnel involved in the rescue operation.
