Carabinieri sanction businesses in Acireale and Aci Catena for hygiene violations

Carabinieri officers conducted inspections in Acireale and Aci Catena, resulting in sanctions and closures due to hygiene violations.

A trattoria in Acireale was sanctioned €13,000 after inspectors found widespread dirt in dining areas, refrigerators, freezers, and extraction hoods. The owner also failed to provide mandatory food information and neglected HACCP self-control procedures.

In Aci Catena, a bakery was immediately closed by the Asp Hygiene Service due to an absolute lack of sanitary conditions. Authorities seized and destroyed approximately 200 kilograms of flour and baked goods suspected of contamination. The owner received a €5,000 administrative fine and faces further investigation regarding local regulations.
