Carabinieri seize area in Marina di Grosseto for illegal waste disposal

Carabinieri officers from the Environmental Protection and Energy Security Command have seized an area in the Il Cristo locality of Marina di Grosseto following the discovery of illegal waste combustion and uncontrolled storage.

The intervention was triggered by the sighting of a dense column of smoke. Upon arrival, officers caught an individual burning a pile of waste mixed with organic debris. Subsequent inspections revealed extensive stockpiles of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including lead-acid batteries, oil filters, synthetic motor oils, gas canisters, expired fire extinguishers, spray cans, and plastic containers contaminated with dangerous substances.

Other items found on-site included refrigerators containing chlorofluorocarbons, washing machines, televisions, used tires, and construction and demolition waste. The legal representative of the company owning the land has been charged with illegal waste combustion and the creation of an uncontrolled deposit of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The entire area and the stored materials have been placed under criminal seizure to prevent further environmental damage and preserve evidence.
