Caracas woman injured after falling in tunnel during 3.9‑magnitude aftershock
A woman was injured on Friday, July 10, after falling from a wall into the tunnel that connects the parking area with the Río Tuy terminal in central Caracas. The fall occurred during a magnitude‑3.9 aftershock that hit the capital at 10:53 a.m., as confirmed by the Fundación Venezolana de Investigaciones Sismológicas (Funvisis), whose epicenter was near La Guaira. Police and army personnel escorted the victim to an ambulance; her condition has not been officially disclosed.
Earlier the same morning, another woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a height near the main tower of the Banco de Venezuela on Avenida Universidad, also amid panic and evacuations triggered by the same aftershock. Emergency responders assisted the injured woman, but authorities have not linked the fall directly to the seismic event. Both incidents occurred as residents continued to evacuate buildings following a series of strong earthquakes on June 24 that caused thousands of casualties nationwide.
The aftershocks have heightened public anxiety, prompting widespread precautionary evacuations across Caracas and surrounding areas.
