Carafem accused of using social media influencers to promote abortion pills

An investigation by Live Action has reported that Carafem, a nonprofit abortion pill distributor, appears to be collaborating with social media influencers to promote medication abortions. The distributor, which provides services via mail and at physical locations in Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., is allegedly using influencers to create content centered on “at-home abortions.”

Videos identified in the report used the hashtag #carafempartner, suggesting a paid promotional arrangement. These videos depict the process of taking abortion pills in a domestic setting, often framing the experience around comfort and self-care. Critics suggest that such branded content may function as advertisements that prevent creators from sharing potentially negative experiences with the medication.
