Carate Brianza Municipality and Folgore Caratese enter legal dispute

A legal dispute has escalated between the Folgore Caratese football club and the Municipality of Carate Brianza regarding the use of the local stadium. The conflict stems from administrative delays and documentation issues that have prevented the team from playing its initial Serie C matches at home.

Following a press conference on August 18, the Municipality of Carate Brianza announced it has instructed legal counsel to file a lawsuit against club president Michele Criscitiello for aggravated defamation. The administration claims Criscitiello’s statements regarding municipal bureaucracy and staff were harmful to the reputation of the local government and its employees. The municipality characterized the pressure to expedite complex administrative processes in 15 days as “pretextual and arrogant.”

In response, Michele Criscitiello intends to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Monza for defamation. Criscitiello argues that Mayor Luca Veggian’s claims—suggesting the club patron was orchestrating fan protests—are unacceptable and damaging to both the club and the supporters. Legal representatives for the club are currently evaluating further actions to protect the organization's image.
