Caravaggio: 9-year-old boy killed in fatal car accident
A fatal car accident occurred on Wednesday, September 16, in Caravaggio, near the Masano district, resulting in the death of a 9-year-old boy, Darek Szczesny. The incident took place around 6:00 PM as the family was returning home.
According to preliminary investigations, the vehicle, a Mercedes GLA station wagon driven by 44-year-old Federica C., lost control near a curve. The car struck a road sign and a tree before veering off the road and overturning in a ditch. No other vehicles were involved, and investigators noted a lack of visible brake marks on the asphalt, leading to hypotheses such as a sudden medical emergency for the driver.
Both children were secured in their respective car seats at the time of the crash. While the 9-year-old died at the scene, his 6-year-old brother and their mother were transported in critical condition to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo. Local authorities, including the Carabinieri and highway police, are conducting investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the crash.
