Athens-Lamia highway caravan overturns near Livadeia
A caravan carrying a family of three, including a 10-year-old child, overturned on the Athens-Lamia national highway on Saturday morning. The accident occurred near the 155.5th kilometer, close to the Livadeia junction, in the lane heading towards Lamia.
Preliminary reports suggest the 59-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle under circumstances currently under investigation. Despite the severity of the crash, all occupants emerged without serious injuries and declined transport to a hospital.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption, blocking both main lanes of the motorway and creating long queues. Initially, vehicles attempted to pass through the emergency lane at low speeds. Due to the need for a specialized crane to remove the caravan and clean the roadway, authorities diverted traffic toward the Livadeia bypass, allowing drivers to rejoin the highway via the Arkitsa junction.
