Caravana Verger brings Pierre Verger photography exhibition to Penedo

The Caravana Verger has arrived in the historic city of Penedo, Alagoas, bringing a traveling exhibition of 80 photographs captured by Pierre Verger during his travels through the Brazilian Northeast in the 1940s and 1950s. The exhibition is housed in an adapted container truck and is located at Largo de São Gonçalo, where it will remain open to the public for free until October 4.

Organized by the Pierre Verger Foundation, the project marks a shift in how the archive is presented, as it is being displayed in public squares and open spaces for the first time. The collection focuses on cultural manifestations, daily life, and popular Brazilian culture.

The program includes musical performances by Allê O’Santo and the band Vibrações, as well as various educational workshops for municipal and state school students. These workshops cover activities such as photography, painting on clay plates, and storytelling. To ensure accessibility, the exhibition features audio descriptions and sign language interpreters for the activities.
