Carcassonne officials approve new city-center health center

Officials from Carcassonne Agglo have voted to rent a building in the city center to establish a new health center. The facility is intended to host retired physicians who will provide medical consultations on a part-time, shift-based basis.

According to Régis Banquet, president of Carcassonne Agglo, the project aims to start with three or four doctors. The long-term vision for the center includes the integration of midwives, junior doctors, and specialists, as well as the implementation of a local mental health contract. The local government intends to acquire the premises on Rue Fédou in the coming months to ensure the project's sustainability. Officials expressed optimism that the center could open by the end of the year.
