Cardano upgrades to protocol version 11 and accelerates decentralisation

Cardano completed the Van Rossem hard fork on 18 July, moving the blockchain to protocol version 11 without any downtime. The upgrade, the first major change ratified entirely through on‑chain community governance, was approved by delegated representatives, stake‑pool operators and the Constitutional Committee. It reduces Plutus smart‑contract execution costs, adds cryptographic enhancements and enforces unique keys for each stake pool.

Following the upgrade, Cardano’s founder company Input Output Global announced it will hand over key engineering components – the Haskell node, Plutus platform, Daedalus wallet and Hydra technology – to specialist firms such as Teragone and Se7en Labs, marking a further step toward full decentralisation. Founder Charles Hoskinson described this as the final stage of the Voltaire era, aiming for multiple independent implementations by 2027.

Market analysts note that ADA has traded in a tight range of $0.160‑$0.168, with support at $0.160 and resistance near $0.168‑$0.170. A breakout above this zone could trigger moves toward $0.175 and higher, while a drop below $0.160 may expose lower targets around $0.150. Some forecasters also highlight the Pepeto presale as a separate opportunity within the broader crypto landscape.

Overall, Cardano’s technical upgrade, governance shift and infrastructure decentralisation are expected to lower transaction costs, improve security and potentially boost investor confidence in the ADA token.
