Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announces new programming language

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced he is developing a new programming language for the blockchain. Working alongside developer Lucas Rosa from Input Output Global, the project aims to support intent-based transactions and proof-carrying data (PCD) using Groth16 cryptographic proofs.

This new tool is intended to allow applications to execute user requests while providing mathematical evidence that specific conditions were met. While the announcement adds a potential new development option alongside existing tools like Aiken, specific technical specifications, code links, and release dates have not yet been provided.

The technical development comes amid a period of economic scrutiny for the network. While Cardano maintains a market capitalization of approximately $8.3 billion, its decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem holds roughly $63 million in total value locked (TVL). This liquidity level is significantly lower than competitors like Solana, which holds billions in DeFi deposits.
