Cardano founder targets network completion with Leios upgrade
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has indicated that the network is approaching the completion of his original technical vision, citing the upcoming Cardano Leios upgrade as the final major requirement. Leios is currently undergoing public testing; during the Musashi Dojo Earth phase, the testnet reached a peak throughput of 26.8 TxkB/s, which is approximately six times the current Praos ceiling. Linear Leios is targeted for the first phase of the Dijkstra hard fork in late 2026, pending governance approval and pool readiness.
Additionally, Hoskinson teased a new concept involving Midnight, a privacy-focused partner network. He described the project as the ‘magnum opus’ of his career, claiming it could solve significant problems within the cryptocurrency space. However, he provided no technical specifications, launch dates, or specific product details regarding the Midnight concept.
