Cardano prepares for RealFi-Mainnet launch and governance updates
Cardano is preparing for the launch of its RealFi-Mainnet on October 1, which aims to integrate blockchain technology with real-world financial applications through the introduction of the USDr stablecoin. Following the Dijkstra upgrade, the network is focusing on scalability, liquidity, and practical utility.
Governance developments include the successful update of the Constitutional Committee, which received over 67 percent approval from DReps and over 51 percent from stake-pool operators. This strengthens the network's decentralized decision-making structure. Additionally, Cardano is expanding its presence in Japan with the listing of ADA and the NIGHT token on S. BLOX.
In the broader blockchain sector, OpenReserve has received a preliminary OCC charter for a planned blockchain bank utilizing stablecoins and tokenized deposits. Meanwhile, institutions such as Citi and FAB have tested live payments using tokenized US dollar deposits via the Swift ledger. Despite these advancements, the network recently faced a 14-minute halt in block production, raising questions regarding technical redundancy and sequencer dependency.
