Cardano price surges ~9% on whale buying and upgrade optimism

Cardano (ADA) rallied between 8% and 11% in early August, pushing the token above $0.19 and breaking a key technical resistance zone. The price advance coincided with a sharp increase in on‑chain activity, as large holders ("whales") accumulated more than 240 million ADA over five days, according to Santiment data.

The surge was supported by a spike in trading volume—over $3 million in 24‑hour volume and a market‑cap rise of roughly $690 million to about $6.7 billion. Analysts linked the move to optimism around Cardano’s upcoming network upgrade, dubbed the Dijkstra era and featuring the Ouroboros Leios scalability upgrade, which is slated for late 2026.

Technical charts show ADA testing the $0.190–$0.195 range, with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement at $0.1886 acting as near‑term support. While the rally may face profit‑taking pressure, the combination of whale accumulation, improved market sentiment, and upgrade expectations underpins the current bullish momentum.
